06 Oct Transformation Friday feat. Sarah Thomas
It’s Transformation Fridayyyy!
You all know complete hair transformations give me all of the ooey gooey feels so OF COURSE I have to share them with you. Allow me to introduce you to the lovely Sarah. Sarah came in ready for a full-on hair makeover. Her whole life Sarah has struggled with a hair concern that many women share—skinny ends. Sarah’s hair just never seemed to grow in the front, leaving the sides of her hair uneven and unable to achieve much length. We talked about her goals of filling in her ends, giving her a nice full look, but not really adding to her length. While extensions are more often thought of as providing length, I see a lot of women who are simply looking for a fuller look at their current length.
Because of the placement needed and the ideal look she was aiming for, Sarah and I chose NBR as her extension method. Adding a single row of Natural Beaded Rows is a beautiful, simple way to fill in skinny ends in a completely invisible way.
After our consultation, we were both so excited and ready, we wished we could do the whole service that day… Unfortunately, we had a bit of a wait to come. As someone who works in the medical field, Sarah’s schedule is about as packed as mine, so we had to schedule her services over a month from our initial consultation. This type of extended timeframe doesn’t happen often, but sometimes due to schedule restrictions or various other circumstances, it can. Sarah was so committed, she was willing to wait as long as she needed to achieve the look she desired. And MAN was it worth it.
Whenever I am doing a huge color change before adding in extensions, we schedule the color appointment at least one week before the extension application. Color Corrections involve a lot of change to the hair, and coloring in advance of ordering the extensions allows us to ensure the correction brings us to the right goal color, and that a perfect color match can be made.
For Sarah’s correction, she had grown out highlights that needed a revamp, and an adjustment to the tone of her color. I used foilyage (a technique that combines hand-painting with foil highlights) to give Sarah a beautiful melty balayage look with some brighter money pieces framing her face. We cooled down her overall color tone, eliminating a formerly brassy color for an end result of an ashy, rooty blonde.
At Sarah’s second visit we added a row of NBR Extensions, color matched to her new hair color. Sarah looked AMAZING. NBR provides added volume starting at the root all the way down to the ends. Because Sarah only needed one row, and her color correction involved a toner, NBR also provides a unique opportunity with its maintenance method. Every other maintenance appointment includes the ability to update the color of the extensions whether that be touching up the shadow root, or adding a toner.
This means the gorgeous color we gave her at her color correction can be maintained easily through her extension maintenance visits. Take a look at the before and afters from Sarah’s color transformation, and then final look.
