07 Jul Sun + Fun with NBR Hair Extensions
I’m bringing you some California vibes today, so put on your sunnies because you’re about to experience my latest extensions obession: Natural Beaded Rows.
NBR Extensions create a beautiful mane of beachy goodness, with incredible manageability and the ability to totally customize your look. For those reasons alone, you can probably already start to see why I’m addicted, but get ready, because it gets even better.
First, let me tell you a little bit about the NBR process. Natural Beaded Rows is the name of the application method created by DKW Styling in Laguna Beach, California.
As an extension wearer and stylist, Danielle had experienced challenges with various other application methods and began tweaking existing methods to create her own. NBR utilizes rows of hair that wrap around the head in a horseshoe shape. It’s attached by first anchoring a row of beads into the hair, then stitching the extension hair to the anchors.
Typically, an NBR application is made up of between one and three rows of hair, and the whole process takes between two to three hours from start to finish.
Okay, so now that you know how it works, let me gush a little bit about why I love it and how I’m seeing it change women’s hair worlds. First and foremost has to be the versatility of the look you can create with NBR.
10 years of Extension Training
As an extension specialist for the past 10 years, I have seen women with a wide variety of hair needs and differing “problem areas” and concerns. NBR allows you to customize the amount of hair added, but also gives the artist flexibility with placement to meet the needs of the individual. If that’s not enough customization, almost every set of NBR is hand painted by myself to match the guest’s hair.
It’s designed to melt seamlessly into your natural hair, so if your hair is shadow rooted or balayaged or color melted, I can customize your extensions to blend beautifully so no one would be able to guess where your hair ended and your Natural Beaded Rows began.
Second, but no less important, I love how safe and healthy NBR can be for the hair. Maintaining the integrity of the hair is always of utmost importance to me, which is one of the reasons I was initially attracted to NBR in the first place. The stitching evenly distributes the weight of the extensions, balancing the hair so that there is no significant increase in pressure on any particular place.
It is one of the safest methods in terms of hair health longevity for the amount of hair that can be added. Which brings me to another fave feature—the sheer amount of hair volume NBR can offer. Because the row of hair wraps all the way around the head, even one row can offer increased volume, or added length. When you add a second or third row, you’re able to achieve volume closer to the crown of the hair (because the extensions are literally stitched in right at the scalp), and throughout the legnth of the hair due to the extensions wrapping the head.
While NBR does require a unique maintenance schedule with the custom color blend needing to be refreshed with each tidy up, there are little to no downfalls to this method. The hair styles beautifully, it is the only method that allows you to wear your hair pinned up high without risk of showing the attachment method, and it is 100% unique to you due to the incredible customization of the hair and application. Check out my latest NBR transformations and see the results for yourself.
If you haven’t experienced an extension consultation with me yet, I am 100% upfront and honest with you about what each method entails and which application will be best suited for your hair needs and lifestyle requirements.
I would love to talk with you about your hair goals and if NBR Extensions are right for you!
