25 May My 80 Day Obsession
80 Day Obsession – The Experience
The results are in, and the name is apt… I’m completely obsessed with the “80 Day Obsession” workout program by Beachbody. You all know I’m a fitness fanatic, but what you may not know is that I have been participating in various Beachbody programs and workouts for the better part of the last four years. I’ve tried everything from Insanity to the 21 day fix, and several in between and I’ve enjoyed them each in varying degrees.
I’m just over 30 days into this current program and I wanted to give you all my feedback and thoughts while I’m in the midst of it… and then, of course, I’ll do a follow up at the very end. (You’ll have to stick around for a couple more months. 😉 )
So why do I love Beachbody workouts so much? Well, when I started my first program four years ago, Kingston was a newborn and I knew I wouldn’t be able to go to the gym or fitness classes outside of the house like I used to. I needed something that I could work into my mom/business owner lifestyle and Beachbody seemed like the perfect fit.
I used to carve out time daily for my at home fitness, and sometime in the last several months that fell off a bit. I was still biking with my Peloton and working out sometimes, but I hadn’t participated in a committed daily program in a while. When I found the 80 Day Obsession, it seemed like exactly what I needed to get back on track and really help me reach some of the fitness goals I had set for myself.
You might be thinking… But Candice, at-home work out videos get so boring when you repeat them every day. And for 80 days? That’s one of the reasons I love this program so much. Every single day is different. I’ve found that it keeps me interested and motivated when each day changes just a bit. It has also motivated me to get back into eating better. Whenever I’m working out a lot I’m inspired to eat better because I don’t want all of that hard work to go to waste. I’ve been super strict with my meal prep since starting this program and it’s helped me stay on track.
I set aside some time on the same day each week to set up my meal prep for the whole week. I also utilize the Shipt grocery delivery service to help set me up for food prep success. If you’re not familiar with Shipt–it’s an amazing service that I highly recommend (and I’m not being paid to say so, I just really love it). You place an order for your groceries on the app and then they’re delivered within a few hours. It helps avoid the wandering through the grocery store and grabbing items you don’t need (or shouldn’t have) on impulse, and it also saves a TON of time. The more consistently I am able to meal prep, the better I’m able to stay on track, and I couldn’t do it without Shipt.
On the subject of sticking to a healthy diet, I’m also a big believer in Shakeology and Daily Harvest. They support my fitness goals by providing the nutrients and protein that I need when working out so much, and they’re super easy to throw together (yep, I combine them) for a really great breakfast (and occasionally lunch). I find that using all of these different tools really helps me stay on track. We all know how easy it is to fall off a routine, and I know that once I’m off, it’s much more challenging to get started again.
Back to the 80 Day Obsession… Overall, I’m super happy with the results. I feel so much better already, and I feel better in my clothes. I’ve included before and after photos so you can see the progress I’ve made in the first 30 days. As much as I love the program, however, I would not repeat it again after the 80 days is over. I really enjoy trying new workout programs to keep things interesting.
If anyone needs a little extra motivation, know that even with two toddlers running around it’s possible to make it through these workouts. Sometimes they “join me” in “worky-out” and sometimes they just like to make things a little more, let’s say, challenging for me, but I refuse to let them take over my fitness journey! If you have any questions about the 80 Day Obsession, all the things I utilize for meal prepping, or anything else fitness related, just drop me a line through my contact form or to firstname.lastname@example.org. I would love to chat more about what I’m doing.
